Man, Daughter Killed By Collapsing House

Kofi Boateng, 27, and his four-year-old daughter, Pokuaa Boateng met their untimely death when the room in which they were sleeping collapsed due to heavy downpour Tuesday night.

His wife, Adwoa Bua, who is five-month-old pregnant, was injured on the leg in the tragic incident that happened around 10:00 pm.

The Atwima Nwabiagya District Chief Executive (DCE) Nana Asare Bediako and the Assemblyman of the area, J. K. Badu who visited the family on Wednesday, told that the woman remained hospitalized.

According to the DCE, the bodies of the deceased persons had since been deposited at the morgue, while the police had commenced investigation.

The DCE who is popularly known as Obama, disclosed that the mud house was seriously dilapidated prior to the incident.

'We have taken notice of the buildings in the community, most of which are mud houses and are in deplorable conditions. There is a plan to pull down those considered to be death traps to the people and the occupants,' Mr. Asare Bediako hinted.

Some residents claimed Kofi Boateng's mud house could not stand the nightlong stormy rain because of its poor condition.

According to reports, 27-year-old Kofi Boateng died on the spot, while his daughter was pronounced dead on arrival at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
