Nigerian writer and filmmaker,  Onyeka Nwelue  whose new novel,  The Beginning of Everything Colourful  has just been released in the US, was in Abeokuta yesterday to interview Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, for The Onyeka Nwelue Show, which will be aired on Linda Ikeji TV. On the Special Edition filmed with Soyinka are writers, Odega Shawa and activist, Femi Adeyeye, who, at the age of 23 spent time in Kirikiri Prison for protesting against the Establishment.

4 days ago, Mercy Aigbe revealed that she has arrived the UK to see a surgeon due to the injuries allegedly inflicted upon her by her now estranged husband, Lanre Gentry. Yes! LIB exclusively told you a few days back that our very own, Kokomaster, D'banj and his wife have been in the United States and are expecting their first child. D'banj just broke the news a few minutes ago on Instagram that he's now a father and he's named his son Daniel. They actually welcomed their son last week. Big congrats to him and his wife!

Some pupils selected from different public schools in Abuja, today paid a visit to the acting president, Yemi Osinbajo, at the state house to commemorate this year's children's day celebration which is tomorrow May 27th.

According to a source close to the music star, D'banj and his wife Lineo  Didi Kilgrow are expecting their first child. The beautiful couple got married in July 2016 in a secret ceremony both in Lagos and Abuja. D'banj is currently in the US where Lineo is said to be waiting to give birth. Congrats to the couple

35 Nigerians comprising 30 males and five females, were today deported by the government of the United Kingdom for committing immigration-related offences. The deported Nigerians arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMlA) Lagos in a chartered Titanic airways aircraft at about 5.50 a.m. Recall that in March, the UK also deported 23 Nigerians for immigration related offences.

Park Geun-hye, the former president of South Korea appeared in court early  on Tuesday  and denied that she engaged in bribery and leaking government secrets at the start of a criminal trial that could send South Korea's first female leader to prison for life if convicted. 

After receiving a letter from the State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, the Kano State House Assembly on Monday called off its investigation into allegations of misappropriation of funds and other infractions against the Kano Emirates Council. If you recall, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II was accused of financial recklessness, with an allegation stating that he spent as much as N6 billion since he ascended the throne in 2014. The emirate reacted through its senior council official in charge of finance, Bashir Wali, who told reporters that only N3.4 billion had been spent since Sanusi ascended the throne in 2014.

The Supreme Court this morning dismissed an application filed by controversial PDP chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff seeking to stop the hearing of an appeal filed by factional leader of the party, Ahmed Makarfi, at the apex court. Makarfi had filed an appeal at the apex court after a Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt affirmed Sheriff as the authentic chairman of the party and sacked him and his Caretaker committee members. Makarfi in the appeal asked the apex court to set aside the judgment of Court of Appeal and affirm him the Chairman of PDP. Makarfi's appeal is to be heard on  Thursday May 25th .

The 2 Brigade Nigeria Army has arrested 17 cultists and recovered assorted arms and ammunition in Oku, Iboku, Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. A statement issued by Capt. Shuaib Umar, spokesman of the brigade, and made available to newsmen  on Sunday  in Uyo, said that the arrest followed a successful raid on hideouts of armed cultists at Oku and Itu bridges, the boundary between Akwa Ibom and Cross River States.

Some female members of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, today went semi-nude to protest against some Nigerian army officers that invaded their meeting in Abiriba, a community in the state. Cross Rivers state governor, Ben Ayade, yesterday gave an order to members of his cabinet to wear only clothes made from the Calabar Garment Factory. The factory, which produces finished clothing items, is a brainchild of his administration. Ayade gave the order when he spoke to newsmen after visiting the factory. He disclosed that as from June 1st, he would also be wearing only clothing items made from the factory.

American singer, Madonna tops the list of America's richest female musicians in 2017 that's just been released by Forbes. Madonna reigns with a whooping $580 million. Forbes reports that her Rebel Heart tour, which ended in March 2016, grossed $170million.   She's closely  followed by Celine Dion  who comes in second position with $400 million while Barbra Streisand clinches the third position with $390 million. Beyonce comes in 4th position with $350 million as her last year’s Lemonade album and the Formation World Tour reportedly grossed a quarter of a billion dollars.  Taylor Swift completes the list of the top 5 with $280 million largely due to the success of her 1989 tour, which smashed North American touring records.

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, Thursday signed three executive orders that will henceforth change how government business and operations are conducted. According to a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, the three executive orders are:
