Singer Matt Cardle has checked himself into The Priory clinic after becoming hooked on prescription drugs.

The X Factor winner, 30, entered the rehab centre on Sunday for a 28-day programme, in order to ensure he’s at full health for the start of his tour in April, according to The Sun.

The paper reports he began using the medication - temazepam and Valium - in order to cope with the stress of working on his last two albums, without the support of a record label after he parted ways with them.
